AI (Artificial Intelligence) is at the heart of robotics: for a robot to be autonomous, it needs AI to make decisions when faced with a situation not foreseen by the programmer. The AI analyzes the information provided by the robot’s various sensors to analyze the situation and act according to what is happening. It is the AI that allows an autonomous vehicle or an AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) to choose its path, to accelerate or slow down, or even to brake according to the situation. It is also the AI that allows a robot to converse with a person in a natural language facilitating the interaction. AI is everywhere in robotics and our members are all concerned by AI, either as users of AI algorithms or as producers of these algorithms.
